black and white can definetley work, but IMO black and white works better with a sharper render: meaning a reander with flat sufaces. robotic themed renders, mech(armored core/gundam) and spartan/futuristic video game renders are good examples of this i would like to see a fade to color/ or a color to color fade/ or a dark to light fade/ or a dark to color fade. you can create a selection with the polygon marquee tool and then darken then create a brightness and contrast layer then make it as dark as you like then smudge and erase on it. (i used this techinique on both of my curent signatures) if using a lens flare it looks great if you use adjustment layers on it and only it. (i used this techinique on both of my curent signatures) if using a flare, first save as png and re-open (or merge all layers) next duplicate the layer and then use the lensflare on that sig. this way you can erase unnessecary brightness lower opacity and compare different results of flares/lighting effexts.(i used this techinique on both of my curent signatures) blur is ok on simple renders but i think it can destroy complicated renders if it is aplied too much. dont be afraid to leave parts of your render(s) out of the sig (especialy the renders accessaries like weapons and such.) here is an example of aplied techiniques (not too show you up, just an example.) i think its awesome your puting coalition on your sigs, keep it up man! your getting alot better.
